NBF mobilized Fishers and other community members to demolish Fishers’ huts which were dilapidated and highly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change such ashurricane force winds, storm surges and sea level rise. New container huts were provided which are setback farther from the shoreline and are more resilient to climate change impacts. The fishers and other community members, of all ages, participated in the work to construct the Fisher Village and now the fishers can spend more time focusing on their livelihoods rather than having to repair huts and transport their equipment back and forth when hurricanes are approaching.
